About a month ago, at Rooftop – arts on main of course, I danced with a professional dancer and it took three songs to get in tune with her, or to get her in tune with me, after all, I’m the leader. It was relatively easy as she had the balance, excellent rhythm and the music was on point.

Rooftop never disappoints, I just wrote that so it would get your attention. So back to the professional dancer that I taught Kizomba basics.
Let’s call her Cherise. Her demeanour, I noticed from across the dance floor, was that she was there to try this SBK, and she was clearly excited by those that could Salsa, but it was the sensual Kizomba moves that fascinated her. I saw her pointing, gesticulating certain movements and I made my Saieda to her.
Asking Cherise to dance was met with no resistance, and teaching her, or rather telling her what to do was met with enthusiasm. Those of you who have been taught by me know I demand the best. Anyway…
It’s this attitude, that eagerness to learn, that’s the difference between just being there and having a great time. And yes sometimes there is an unsavoury character or two that hinder the fun, but that’s not the norm in the SBK dance community. That’s Salsa Bachata Kizomba – SBK – for those who don’t know.
Cherise is proof that girls just want to have fun (see what I did here) look we all want to have fun, but I must admit that sometimes this intention is not enough. A good DJ, a smooth dance floor and a partner that actually follows is imperative to enjoying yourself but that’s a chapter for another other day.
Kudos to you my brother. ..
